John UK wrote, “Erik, you can help me out here, but it seems that this group separates from Presbyterian mainstream (which is now clearly apostate) and separate also from the other separatists such as the Free Presbyterian Church of Ulster (under the late Dr Ian Paisley), and presumably also separate from the Free Church of Scotland (continuing) which is also a separatist church.” Wait, JUK, let me get this straight. The Covenanters have pulled away from all other Presbyterians, and yet they are “against schisms”? Or is “schisms” a Scots word like kist or siller or doon, and not the ordinary English word it appears to be?
If everyone is a Christian, then some Christians go to heaven and other Christians go to hell. Crazy. And if Christ has already established His kingdom on earth, why isn’t He in Jerusalem calling the shots? Or has He moved His throne to Edinburgh? You’re right, UPS. Erik is a false teacher whose ideas are antithetical to scripture.
Ken, my folks have been in the “Old South” since the 1600s. I’ve read a verse or two of scripture, once or twice maybe. I’d be interested in reading about my “cursing” Satan. I don’t remember ever doing that, but I do remember being accused of a lot of things I never did, so I reckon one more isn’t going to hurt. I’m sorry you have a cockleburr in an uncomfortable location. Being a Southern man, I’m sure you know where that is. You have a good day, and if you’re ever in South Mississippi swing by and I’ll put on a pot of turnip greens and some skillet-baked cornbread. Might even fix a mess of Q and stew. You can bring the sweet tea.
So go to Scotland, overthrow the government, reinstate the SL&C, stick in your thumb, pull out a plumb and say “What a good boy am I.” No one on here worships the United States. No one has replaced the Bible with the Constitution. No one considers Mothers Day or Thanksgiving a day when we are obligated to ignore God and bow down to Baal. Your accusations are not only false, Erik, but ridiculous and they make you look foolish and ignorant. We have enough problems dealing with unhinged liberals without adding Christian loose cannons to the mix.
Isaiah 49:22-23 has nothing to do with the bride of Christ. It has to do with Israel. Christians don’t need confessions and catechisms (an invention of the RCC). They need to learn to rightly divide the word of truth so as not to confuse promises and warnings made to Israel with scriptures that apply to the church. The church is not Israel. Israel is not the church. And the SL&C is neither.
Helping eliminate unemployment is worth way more than “giving” people anything, including “free” healthcare, which is actually healthcare given to one group of people with money immorally confiscated from another group of people. Under Donald J. Trump, unemployment has virtually been eliminated, and any able-bodied person who wants a job can find one. Right now I could make a decent living selling “Help Wanted” signs, something I would have starved trying to do under the great and illustrious Mr. Obama. And please stop calling it Obamacare. A more accurate name would be “Obamanevercared.”
Hal wrote, “I think Baptists today are not the same as the Baptists of yesterday.” That depends on what Baptists you are referring to. Some are still following the old paths despite what the unscriptural denominational churches do.
Erik, I didn’t say that Satan is the god of this world. The Apostle Paul, under inspiration of the Holy Ghost, said that Satan is the god of this world. That’s in the Bible, you know. Read it sometime. It might help you figure out the truth. Getting off the train now. I got off once and should have stayed off. Sayonara.
The god of this world is Satan, bubba, and not Christ. He came once to set up His kingdom on earth, “and his own,” the Jews, “received him not.” He is coming again to call His bride, the church, to the marriage supper of the Lamb, and THEN He will return in glory as King of kings and Lord of lords. THEN He will reign in Jerusalem over all the nations of earth. Even now He is Lord of all (Acts 10:36); then He will reign as Lord.
If professing Christians cannot agree on this forum—and we have demonstrated time and time again that we cannot—pray tell how would we get together and design a government that is any better than what we have now? “Simple!” you say. “Let it be based on the Word of God!” Sweet pea, we can’t even agree on what His Word says, let alone what it means. When Jesus comes, He’ll separate the tares from the wheat. Meanwhile we’ll just have to put up with a little of each. We have neither the wisdom nor the authority to establish His kingdom on earth, and whatever we do establish will be overthrown by Him anyway. Just be thankful we aren’t under Nero or Hillary.
