Great Sermon! Phil
The scriptures say that: “When a man hath taken a wife, and married her, and it come to pass that she find no favour in his eyes, because he hath found some uncleanness in her... what does uncleanness mean? There are a lot of opinions. Some opinions are that she may have become sick with a disfiguring skin disease. Or she may become over or under weight. What’s very interesting also, is that only reason the second man divorces her, was that he hated her. Maybe this should be the only requirement for a biblical divorce? But Jesus said the real reason was hardness of heart. Men react in two ways, with love or with hate, when they don’t get what they think, they deserve. Could it be that Moses is taking about engaged couples? Take Joseph, when he heard of Marys condition, he responded with compassion for Mary and though about what to do, he even slept on it. Most men these days would decide what to do in 1 second. Stone her! Men who hated their wives enough to try and get them stoned were, heavily fined and never allowed to divorce them Deut 22:19 this contradicts Deut 24:1-4
Thought provoking word study Fruit juices, being naturally unstable by the presence of yeast and sugar content, are extremely prone to putrefaction by natural degradation, say fermentation, which fact makes the understanding of the Hebrew concepts challenging. Nevertheless, the study word presented here appears interesting
Much Food for Thought Wow! What an amazing sermon! Phil Schlamp contextualizes "The latter Parables of Jesus" into the dawn of the Millennial age. Schlamp draws on the last parables of Christ to consider who will be present and who will absent at the inauguration of Christ in the age to come. He presents this in a way I have never heard in any sermon before. If there is one sermon that is a "must listen", for its deep understanding of eschatology, then this would be that sermon. Highly recommended!
Great Sermon! Very good message about the wicked poison / narcotic / drug which is promoted everywhere. Not just on Billboards and print ads, but almost every TV program / Movie / radio, not the ads , but a part of the show. In the Bible there is no place that extols the uses of booze. Gen., Prov. Hab. And Daniel do not. The N.T. warns use to be vigilant. A person with booze in their brain cannot be vigilant. You cannot tell your kids to not do drugs if you are drinking alcoholic beverages. That is 2-faced. Pastor Schlamp is one of a vry few ( and the men of the Free Presbyterian Church) that dare preach against the "devil in a bottle".
A warning for all believers Thank you for preaching upon a very difficult and complex subject which has serious implications for all believers of our Lord and Saviour. As Phil concluded we must know what God's word has to say,for that is the only truth we have.
Great Sermon! Good message in all 3 sermons of the series. Well thought out.
Many people ( Calvinists) do not read a whole chapter, only a portion of a verse.
They often neglect to open a standard English dictionary and look up word meanings,,, and the words next to the other words in verses. I was in the "Calvin Camp" for 10+ years, but now I am back to being Sola Scriptura!
Great Sermon! Very, very good series, especially the last 3 messages which were about the Church at Laodecia. I think the last 2 have not been posted yet [ Canadian winter ? 😉].Pastor Schlamp does not "sugar-coat" sermons.
Great Sermon! Very, very good message! Have listened twice now. Lots of good thinking backed up with Bible passages. Shoots down baptismal regeneration, and infant "baptism".
We are featuring this series in our blog This has been an awesome series! Not only is the biblical treatment fully faithful, but you are spot-on with what the church must do about it. Our blog site is called "7 Times Around the Jericho Wall."
Pay no mind to those who claim your message is "unloving". The church not caring about the real souls involved is what's truly unloving
