“ Don't Despair and Don't Give Up The Fight ! ” Amen ! Thank you Brother Thank You Pastor ! That's a fair summary of my interpetatjon of Romans 7 and Galatians 5 that this is the daily battle of the Christian. There can be some seasons of refreshing but overall it's a daily battle and some days can be an hourly battle. Beauty is the overall outcome ... He will complete the good work He began in you (Philipians) Unto Him who loved us, and washed away our sins in His own sins (Revelations 1:5)
“ Phil Johnson is my favorite... ” I love Phil Johnson, have listened to many of his sermons. About 11 mins into this sermon he talks about the "casual eating of grain on the Sabbath day" not being a sin, and that the Pharisees exaggerated this as a sin...however, I'm just going through the book of Numbers and this is very much a sin, and anything, however slight, done on the Sabbath was cause for being stoned to death. IN FACT one man who was gathering sticks on the Sabbath was stoned to death. The Pharisees DID often exaggerate, however, they got it right on this one. But Jesus showed His Lordship by showing how He is greater than the laws, or else none of us would have any hope at all. He is GREATER THAN the Sabbath, He is the Lord OVER ALL. Haven't listened to the rest of this sermon yet, will do so now, I'm sure the rest of it is wonderful. I realize Pastor Johnson is human, and like the rest of us can make a mistake now and then. ;)
“ Outstanding Sermon! ” Most preachers are afraid to tell this message. The insight into our depravity before becoming a child of God is very deep and I had to listen to this message 3 times to get its powerful facts. Phil does an outstanding job giving us understanding of how we became "born again" because of God's grace and love -- nothing that we did or said gave us this eternal life with Christ Jesus.
“ Great Sermon! ” Bro. Phil, I made a comment on this but seems didn't make it here. Maybe it was too lengthy. I listened to this either last night or night before and I really enjoyed it and was a blessing to me. Thank you.
“ showing your fruit. ” It shows that even Christians can have bad fruit like good trees can have bad fruit even though bad trees can not have good fruit .
“ Powerful Sermon! ” Phil does an outstanding job showing us some of God's Holiness attributes and why we should know Him better and strive to be more holy. We should exalt God and worship Him because it is truly Holy.
“ Insightful Sermon! ” Phil does an excellent job discussing the 10th Commandment. We see why and how covetousness is a constant problem even for Christians. His examples are great to make us have introspection about our daily behavior.
“ Excellent Sermon! ” Thank you so much, Mike! I livestreamed your sermon that you did on that Sunday night, and it was truly a eye-opener! It made me question whether I was saved or was I just playing pretender. Thank you so much for your ministry at Grace Church! If I lived down there, I would definitely join Grace Church! :) Thanks again, for preaching God's Word on verse at a time.
