“ Great Sermon! ” 1) The question is not the translation but the manuscripts. The modern versions are a) From, or highly influenced by, corrupt manuscripts and b) Usually paraphrases -ie man's idea of what God was trying to say rather than word for word.
2) It is worth reading about the excellence of the team which produced the Authorised Version (known in America as the KJV) . . . that gives some perspective on snipers who, on the basis of 5 minutes in a Greek dictionary, think they can do a better job.
“ Prolife? ” The heartbeat bill denies science. We can know the baby is alive even before his heart beats (for example he is growing and mommy's hormone levels) The heartbeat bill denies God's word. Genesis 9:6 "Whoever sheds man's blood, By man his blood shall be shed, For in the image of God He made man." God says do not kill humans because they bear My image. God's image is a part of who we are from conception. Preborn babies should be protected because they bear the image of God, not because we can hear their heart beat.

The boy, Alfie, had an incurable brain disease, a disease which had largely destroyed that brain. The boy was being kept alive by a ventilator, which the doctors decided should be switched off because, in their professional view, it was pointless and cruel to keep the boy alive by that means. The Law, in Britain, supports the doctors who are presumed to be acting in the best interests of the patient, in this case, the boy, Alfie. The Law, in acting for the best interests of the child, decided death was preferable to keeping the child alive with no hope of recovery. The parents disagreed, as many parents would, but that would not, necessarily, be in the best interests of their child. In fact, their love could get in the way of doing what's best for Alfie, even to let him die.
Of course, there was no valid reason, in my view, for the judge to rule that the parents wouldn't be allowed to take the boy to Italy for further treatment but that is another issue
