I highly recommend this message! David understood both the righteous justice of the Holy God and His grace. The Lord has a right to do with His own as He will. Those who understand these things marvel at the wonderous grace of our God and King!

I very much like this. This is a great concern for pastors I have no doubt. But we as a congregation have a responsibility to strive and pray to know ALL the council of God! We should honor and listen to our pastors but we also need to be noble Bereans. And I ain't talking about Berea, KY as nice a place as that is relatively speaking.

Whenever I meet someone with a new interest in God's salvation and they ask where they should start reading in scripture I point them to Romans 8. I told one man with a new interest in his salvation and whose health had declined and was in his last years that he should study Romans 8 thoroughly. That was also the scripture Tom Harding read at my Dad's grave site. More pastors need to concentrate on this chapter and preach what it says as Todd is doing.

Todd understands God's grace as well as anyone and preaches it far better than most. But as much as I love Todd it is obvious we don't quite match up on end-times prophecy. The people referred to in the text in Mathew are people who are alive on earth when Christ returns. The people referred to in the "Great White Throne Judgement" in Revelation are people brought from the grave after Christ's reigning here on earth for one thousand years. Just giving food for thought to those who are interested in looking into these things.

Glorious is the power and wisdom of God as seen in His determinate counsel! I never tire of hearing of God's predestinating power! That is how we know we are secure in Him. No one can thwart His will!

Excellent! Only humble people love. Pride can only cause self love. Only humble people worship God. The Pharisee in the parable prayed to himself. He was his own god. Jesus said, "The Pharisee stood and prayed thus with himself..." We can't worship anything and God at the same time much less our self. Very excellent!

Todd touched on a very tricky issue at the end of his sermon when he addressed the love of God. We humans like things simple and cut and dry except when it comes to good and evil which is actually one of the few things that are cut and dry. One drop of bad in an ocean of good render the whole useless to God outside of the blood of Christ. But God's love is more complicated. We are all familiar with the saying, "There's a fine line between love and hate. God did love His creation enough to send His Son to save us. And God is angry with the wicked everyday. His anger comes from His great love. He has given man everything. So much so that even when men fail they have a way out through the precious blood of the Father's Son. And yet we reject even that. Yes God is angry! And with every right to be. His righteousness and justice requires that He punish the guilty. But Ezk 33:11 tells us God takes no pleasure in that. And Christ said He desired to gather Jerusalem as a hen her chicks under her wing but they would not. Yes God is angry and God will rightly and justly punish sin. But His anger comes from His great love for His creation and the incredible rejection of His Son who gave all for sinners. Even so He causes repentance in His elect and saves them. Men without Christ: HOPELESS!!

This is by far the best sermon I can recall on this parable. There are many pastors out there who would benefit from hearing this sermon, if God would bring it to life in their hearts. It was certainly a learning experience for me and I am grateful to my Lord He blessed Todd to preach this sermon and He blessed me to hear it.

“ Great Sermon! ”
This is one of the most necessary sermons for all believers to hear. All believers are part of the ministry. None of us have a ministry that stands alone. If we do we are not part of The Ministry. And pride is our greatest enemy. It causes us to take our eye off our Savior and it is the father of all sin. I look forward to more sermons on this subject. We all need to hear it again and again. I know I do. It is by the grace of God we understand these things. The religion of this world pats men on the back and lifts men up. True Christianity shows man his need and lifts Christ up.

“ Great Sermon! ”
Too much to be gained from a closer look. Daniel 9 is the passage Christ was speaking of. 69 weeks of years was the time described that would take place between the decree to rebuild Israel to the time the Messiah would present Himself as king, which was predicted to the exact day. The 27th verse describes the 70th week of years in which the abomination that makes desolate occurs. This week occurs separately from the 69 which is made obvious by the prediction that the temple would be destroyed. Which did happen almost 40 years later in 70 AD; much longer than 7 years later. At the beginning of this week the "prince that shall come" confirms a covenant with Israel and in the middle of the week causes the sacrifices to be halted. There has to be another temple of course for this to happen. This prince is the antichrist. When he stops the sacrifices he also spreads an abomination that makes desolate. This is what Christ was referring to from Daniel. This desolation will continue until the consummation or end which is determined which is poured on the desolate. The antichrist is of course the desolate. This 3 & 1/2 year period is the great tribulation Christ is referring to. The apostles are being instructed to flee this occurrence. Could give much more detail with more space
