Outstanding! Every time that I listen to Henry he just gets better and better. I am presently studying Melchizedek and Henry has done quite a few sermons on this entity in scripture.
The question that always seems to persistently presents itself is "Is Melchizedek a representation of Christ?" And there are those who say he is and those who say he isn't. I would like to be sure once and for all exactly who Melchizedek truly is. And Henry can help me with that.
For all of those out there that are seriously searching to understand scripture - give Henry a chance to explain things because he is one of the very few preachers who can.
Stellar!!! How I miss Henry! No one can preach the Word of God like Henry Mahan could! He brought the Word of God to life in a way that you could literally bathe in it as he spoke. Not very many preachers can do that. Henry was a true blessing from God.
Henry does a magnificent job in explaining who Melchizedek really is. For many, many years I truly believed that it was Christ himself who appeared in that form. But thanks to the enlightening preaching of Henry I now understand what the truth is in Genesis 14. I understand the Word better now.
What a true blessing!
To God Be the Glory Great and solid Biblical points. One I’ll add is around God’s total sovereignty in the salvation of men. When most unconverted sinners hear that God has absolute right to open the door of everlasting life for some and shut it before others, they often declare “that’s not fair!” Part of the problem is only converted hearts revere and accept God’s Sovereignty in controlling men’s destinies. The other is unconverted souls perceive God as a man like unto them. So indeed if it were just a man based on his own faulty human intellect or character determining who he would rescue, then yes this would be unfair. But what the unconverted fail to understand and recognize time and again is God’s declaration of Himself that He is not like sinful man, not prone to his fallen prejudices or selfish lusts, but instead holy in character, purpose and will whom man can trust alone for fairness and justice. He is our all-wise and all-powerful Creator and therefore righteous Judge. To Him be the glory, and so let us never cry “unfair” but instead Amen Lord, Amen!
Eternal Truth You Must Hear ALL GLORY TO JESUS CHRIST! Please hear this sermon from 1976! PLEASE! "Only one life, will soon be past. Only what's done for Christ will last." Heaven and Hell are forever. For eternity. Life on this earth is less than a blink compared to eternity but this life is all that matters to most "Christians" today. Most humans today are spoiled because of modern inventions and modern comforts. They just want to protect "their rights." All of the causes, movements, charities, and protests are worthless compared to the importance of the Gospel of Christ. Movements and causes are distractions from what really matters. Energy and effort are wasted on improving this world when these actions replace the spreading of the Gospel. People are actually being driven out of churches and kicked out of churches because they won't get involved in these various movements that do not matter in the long run. NOTHING is more important than being saved. Being "nice" has nothing to do with it. Charm and flattery are from Satan. If any movement does not line up with what the Bible teaches it is of Satan!! Wake up world. Time is running out. Whatever you are doing today will not matter 1000 years from now unless you are giving the Gospel of Christ to someone. People DO go to Hell and Hell is forever!
Amen, God’s Children are Beloved of the Father Thank you for such an edifying sermon, dear Brother Tom. Your words reminded me of the 1991 Kevin Costner film “Robin Hood”. A scene in which Robin at last confronts the bike Nottingham Sheriff who wields the sword of Robin’s slain father. To this, Robin contends boldly “I shall never fear my father’s sword”. Amen indeed for the child of God declares the same for His wrath and justice have been satisfied in Christ’s sacrifice. For the unregenerate sinner, God’s sword stands ready to mete out due punishment but for the saved Christian, that sword has become a guiding rod and staff from the Faithful Shepherd. John 3:36 ; Romans 8:32
Great Sermon! Thank you for that and thank you for your faithfulness to the church in Kingsport and thank you for your faithfulness to the church in Pike County and most of all thank you for your faithfulness to the Word. We can be faithful because of His faithfulness.
Great Sermon! Sing praises to our God! Songs and sermons like this that sing the praises of our King are a great blessing to the hearts of those who love Him by the grace and power of God. The hymn "Praise Him! Praise Him! comes to mind:
Praise Him! Praise Him! Jesus our blessed Redeemer. Praise Him! Praise Him! Ever in joyful song!
Great Sermon! So True. Christ is All, PERIOD. All in salvation, all in creation, all in sustaining power of the universe. This universe would cease to exist if Christ withdrew His power from it. As John chapter one says, without Him nothing was made that was made. And in Acts it tells us that in Him we move and have our being. He holds our breath in His hand. Christ is God. He, the Father, and the Holy Spirit are one God. One in mind, one in purpose, and one in Holy nature. We should not forget this and we should reverently worship God as God because He is God!
Great Sermon! Amen!!! Our lives are useless without Christ. In fact they are more than useless; they are sinful and destructive. Only in Christ do we have worth. And through Him we are priceless jewels!!! Not only is He our life, but without Him we have no life. Amen!!!
Great Sermon! Excellent title for the sermon. Glorious Truth! I was there that day when Henry came to preach and Tom was with him. I am so thankful to God for giving Doug the desire to see the truth of God's grace to have a witness there in Pike County. Such a glorious thing! And I am thankful to Henry for eagerly desiring to take the opportunity to see the Truth of God's grace taught there. I am thankful for Gary Shepherd and Jim Byrd who both were faithful pastors to us there for a time. And I am thankful for Tom. Tom has been an amazing blessing for the church at Zebulon and has himself seen to it that others in other areas are blessed with a witness in there communities. I hope I get the opportunity to return at least for a visit someday, but for now I have a calling of my own. I pray the church in Zebulon continues to grow and to spread the Word. The two great commandments are to love the Lord with everything you have and to love others as you love yourself. There is not a better way of showing love for God and man then spreading the Word.
Bone crushing truth. Very powerful words that forced me into prayer and self examination of where I am in terms of the raw building blocks of salvation and knowledge of who the Lord Jesus Christ is to me. Very humbling. It brought me to repentance.
