There is no doubt that to the people in today's Eurasia, Americas and New Zealand hate the idea of weakness and dependence on God.
They believe it leaves some inferior to others and left some poor and propertyless waiting for an afterlife that reason shows wrong. Hence the support for radical socialism and nihilism among the masses in these nations, who feel oppressed by the rich. Marxism, though as violent an ideology as Islam, was for a full seventy years spread by preaching and became the dominate belief of Europe's working classes when suffrage was not universal. (Of course, Marxism did spread by the sword when it could). Islam was spread by preaching for only a fraction of a decade.
“ Great Sermon! ” Thank you for this sermon. I am reminded of the verse "where sin prevailed, grace did more so prevail" . God give us clear vision of our real nature that his grace in redemption stand out in its glory.
“ a note of thanks ” It's interesting that the majority of evangelical churches participate in and staunchly defend these man-made traditions, particularly in light of that which separates us from all other religions, incl.catholicism...namely, sola Scriptura and sola fide. The "hollow-days" ,which are so highly esteemed in the church, are days in which the reformed church looks and acts much like the catholic church which embraces its' vain traditions.
Pastor Webb, you are to be commended for your faithfulness in rightly dividing the Word.
