This is a very challenging and helpful Course for both beginner and seasoned Christian alike. If the 13 lessons that follow are as appetising as what has gone before then we will indeed have enjoyed a real spiritual banquet.

Why Preach Christ Crucified?
Rev Ian Brown

“ Great Sermon! ”
Why indeed? After all, we can preach that Hinduism, Buddhism etc etc are all 'valid ways to God'. We can attract lots of people (and surely that's what it's all about anyway) by putting on rock stars to preach. We can make lotsa $$ by promoting the prosperity for all message, or the miraculous healing scenario. We can give support to sick lifestyles and tell people what they want to hear, that they are not really sinners in need of a Saviour. Many western churches are doing these humanistic and even demonic things, so it is refreshing to the soul to hear faithful preaching like this.

“ Great Sermon! ”
This latest in the series on the entire Bible provides the listener with lots more reasons to love God. In the many details the one we especially appreciated was that the number of passovers recorded in Scripture is seven (the number of perfection), with the final one being that immediately preceding Calvary. For those involved in "distance learning", the PDF file is now available on the same page as the sermon which is very helpful.

“ Great Sermon! ”
Enjoyed this sermon as it is an encouragement to pray. Listen to the testimony of Sid Murray which I providentially heard after this sermon. God still saves 'big' sinners and how I bless His wonderful name that He saved this great sinner. 'What must I do to be saved? And they said. Believe on the Lord Jesus Christ, and thou shalt be saved' Acts 16: 30, 31. Are you saved? What is your personal testimony of so great salvation? 'This is a faithful saying, and worthy of all acceptation, that Christ Jesus came into the world to save sinners; of whom I am chief'. I am saddened by this news. People were turned away. Why not go out and pray for them, Mr. Hinn? The Bible has the answer to this dilemma...see James chapter 5. Call for the church elders to pray and annoint with oil, not go after the latest fad flying around the world in an expensive airplane.

“ Some love story ”
I have not seen 'Brokeback Mountain' and I do not intend to see it for obvious reasons. But the trailers and clips I have watched made it already pretty clear, that hollywood has succeeded once more in presenting fiction as reality. I used to be a 'self-confessed' Christian homosexual and I have caught a glimpse of the reality of the gay lifestyle. Not too much romance there! I have seen a lot of lust, greed, selfishness, jealousy and practices too shameful to mention. The gay lifestyle is physically dangerous, emotionally devastating and spiritually destructive to an honest Christian life. Well, I guess hollywood has once more put a spell on precious souls with another fairytale.

“ God Did NOT Tell You ...! ”
[ Ian Brown's Response to Blake; pt.2 ]: 2. You claim to be Spirit-guided in pronouncing homosexuals guilty of no sin: “God told me that homosexuality wasn’t a sin.” The truth is, the Holy Spirit directs men and women to the Word of God on every issue (cf. John 16:13) - NOT to make statements like yours that blatantly oppose Scripture. It is also the practice of the Holy Spirit to promote holy living (cf. Galatians 5:16), therefore He will never lead anyone to either endorse or engage in the sin of homosexuality. You therefore demonstrate that the spirit which leads you is not of God, but is that lying spirit so characteristic of Satan (John 8:44). 3. You contend that ‘Brokeback Mountain’ depicts the “finedst exmaple of love not perversion.” Intriguingly, God defines sodomite lust as a “vile affection” (Romans 1:26) - where the word “vile” means “filthy, dirty.” 4. You conclude, “Having no love and judging is the sin here.” The Bible commands us to “judge righteous judgment” (John 7:24). The truth is, the greatest love we can show the homosexual is to warn him about the consequences of his sin - and direct him to the Lord Jesus Christ who alone is able to deliver him (cf. 1 Corinthians 6:9-11).

“ God told me ”
Brokeback deserved what it got at the Oscars. I think it wasn't Best Picture, but best, in my mind, the finedst exmaple of love not perversion. I believe in the Spirit- I believe we should follow what we spiritually feel. I keep tuned to God through prayer and meditation. The fact that so many men are judged here on this God told me that homosexuality wasn't a sin. Having no love and judging is the sin here. [ Ian Brown's RESPONSE ]: 1. Having revealed His will in His Word, God does not proceed to send a contradictory ‘private message’ to an individual. With respect to the sin of Sodomy, God has made His verdict palpably plain. It is: • a sin that is unnatural and depraved (Romans 1:25-28); • an abomination to God (Leviticus 18:22, Leviticus 20:13); • a sin that closes the door of heaven to those who practise it (1 Corinthians 6:9&10), • and is certain to bring upon itself the crushing judgment of Almighty God (Genesis 19, Romans 1:32, Jude 7). The only way you can ignore the consistent witness of Scripture against this sin of is to either dismiss, or rewrite, the Bible. This, of course, is what you are trying to do. God is not going to denounce sodomy as an “abomination” in His Word to men, and then approve this hideous sin to you!

“ Great Sermon! ”
A surprisingly enlightening and educational teaching/sermon. Rev. Brown does not shun the major criticisms brought against the Biblical account of creation but meets them head on. He names his sources of information so that the listener can himself verify the data. The scientific data he gives concerning the "table of nations" and his relationship of that to the Darwin theory of evolution is a real eye opener.

A smallish chorus of approval, I think. Five people.

Incidentally, a friend who, against his better judgment, was talked into seeing the film gave me his opinion. He said the message is not pro-gay at all, but definitely anti-gay: the film apparently seeks to demonstrate that the gay lifestyle leads only to unhappiness and lack of fulfilment.

So maybe Ang Lee has actually made a "homophobic" movie.

I agree with Brown that that motion picture was nothing but propaganda for the perversion of Sodomy or Homosexuality.

“ Very Informative ”
I would recommend all Christians, (whether new, young or long in the tooth!) to follow this Bible Course. You will learn many interesting things, and it will be a blessing to you. Take for example part 2 - the geography of the OT. You will be able to visualise and understand better when you read about these places in your Bible. Just send your e-mail address to Rev Brown and he will add you name to the list and will send you out each of the relevant study notes which you will be able to refer to whenever you feel the need. As stated above, the address is [email protected] The Lord bless your work for Him.

“ A Must Listen! ”
SYDNEY (Reuters MARCH 4TH annual Gay and Lesbian Mardi Gras Parade) - Thousands of Australians crammed Sydney's tiny gay quarter to applaud half-naked cowboys... many loosely adopting the theme of this year's Oscar-hopeful blockbuster "Brokeback Mountain", Ang Lee's saga of gay cowboys. The cowboys competed with themes including bare-chested men hula-hula dancing in Hawaiian grass skirts and a lesbian motorcycle club for applause from the crowd. The parade began in 1978 to protest a ban on homosexuality in Australia, but has become more hedonistic over the years. "It's like Christmas for the gay and lesbian community," said the parade's creative director, Graeme Browning. Homosexuality was decriminalised in Australia in 1984. One boisterous group of marchers promoted "bisexuality and paganism", while another implored onlookers to take pride in their leather." I note the above display and celebration of perversion the same day as Rev Brown preached an excellent and scripturally comprehensive exposure of Homosexuality. Hear it and take heed of the obvious facts.

A needful sermon as it is a bang up to date survey of the evil 'booze trade' and its present license by our wicked government to seek and destroy all taken captive under its' influence. A strong warning of the evil of strong drink.

“ Great Sermon! ”
Having just completed family worship Luke 18 and thinking upon v18-27 it was a great blessing to hear Rev Brown then deal with the same from Matthew 19. Two ways to heaven? Listen and you will find the scriptural answer! This is a sermon that is packed with information to clearly present Christ as the only TRUTH and only way to heaven. A great bible and richly informative sermon to pass onto those who do not know Christ.

“ Great Sermon! ”
Here indeed we find a sermon which is both challenging and delightfully informative. The believer is instructed about Bible lands and their symbolic significance while the unsaved will be walking on a geographical path which prayerfully will lead to Calvary and beyond. May The Saviour, Designer and Creator richly bless our brother Ian as he produces these very important studies.
