Basic Information

Introduction We are a reformed and evangelical church, believing that salvation is by grace alone through faith alone in Jesus Christ. We are an independant local Baptist church with a membership and church officers. We adhere to the 1689 Baptist Confession of faith in practice and belief and teach the doctrines of sovereign grace, most often summarised as the ’5 points of Calvinism’. We believe that the Bible teaches us that God must be worshiped in spirit and truth and as such, we believe that ‘traditional worship’ is in line with that taught by the bible and must be glorious and reverent such that our minds are lifted up in thanksgiving, repentance, dedication, intercession and the hearing of God’s Word. We use the King James Version of the Bible in our services of worship along with reverent praise from the Christian Hymns book. We have statement of faith which we hold to as a church. Service Times We observe the Lord's Supper on the first and third Lord's Day after the morning service. Speakers Primary Speaker: Rev. Thomas Yates He was called to be the pastor of Hope Baptist Chapel, Haslemere in 2011. He commenced the pastorate at Maryport Street Baptist Chapel, Devizes in April 2015.  |  more..
