This lesson focuses on more reasons why having an attitude of partiality is sin and is contrary to religion that is pure and undefiled before God.
James tells us that this attitude of partiality is a violation of the royal law. In this lesson we look into just what the royal law is and identify it as being the same as the law of liberty, the word, the word of truth, the gospel of grace and the law of Christ and differentiate this royal law and the Law of Moses.
We examine the central command of the royal law which is the thread that ties all of the commands together into this royal law. The central command is to love your neighbor as yourself. Any violation of this central command is a violation of the whole law.
Lastly, we looked at the eschatological ramifications of having an attitude of partiality. Those who do not show mercy to those in affliction show no fruit of genuine faith and therefore they will be judged without the mercy of God and will receive only condemnation. Those whose lives do show the fruit of faith-which includes mercy and love-are believers with divine faith and their works (good and bad) will be judged at the judgment of Christ, but they are known by God and will receive His mercy.
