Isaiah 45 demonstrates God's ability to advance His will in the face of an apostate nation. I see the chapter as the Roman's 9 of the Old Testament. Also, this chapter describes the anointed Cyrus whom God used to further His purpose to save a people for His name. Cyrus was a pagan ruler who did not know the Lord. God has another anointed one—a true Messiah, Jesus Christ, whom God would use to bring His salvation to the ends of the earth.
Isaiah 45:22 was used of God to save the young Charles H. Spurgeon on a snow Sunday in December of 1849.
The text is divided in two sections. Verses 1–13 show how God's sovereign will is performed in spite of those who would resist Him. Verses 14–25 show how God sovereignly accomplishes His salvation in the earth.
