SERMON INFO
The Lord's disciples asked Him to teach them to pray. We can learn much from our Lord about prayer through the prayers of David. In Psalm 5 we find that David is not limited to one form of prayer. He approaches the throne of grace with words, silent meditations, and cries. He offers prayers on behalf of himself as a representative of the godly and imprecations on behalf of the enemies of God.

What role, if any, should imprecatory prayers (the calling upon God for a just demonstration of wrath against sinners) play in the life of the New Testament church? Some scholars and worshippers of the modern church love-god deny or reject the idea that any imprecation is appropriate in light of Jesus' command to love one another.

Is this so? Does the new commandment and law of Christ to love, necessarily exclude imprecatory prayers? Are imprecations products of an old Jewish dispensation no longer to be practiced by those enlightened by Christ? Are imprecations always the product of human anger and an 'eye for an eye' mentality?

If not, then why do so few churches today include imprecatory prayers in their worship? With about 20 imprecatory prayers in the Psalms alone - and the Psalter being the prayer book of the church - how is it that we can ignore or overlook this kind of prayer in our prayer meetings and public worship? Have we become so affected by the love idol put forth by today's church, that we consider appropriate imprecation as incompatible with the command to love our enemies and pray for those who despitefully use us?

This sermon will address all of these questions as it examines the role of imprecation in the life of the New Testament saint and church.

“ Great Sermon! ”
A most excellent sermon and happy to be reminded God is my Father who defends me. Very grateful for this resource that highlights various pastors whom we would never hear if not for this ministry. I've been blessed by so many.

“ Wow Sermon! ”
My heart was stirred beyond my knowledge of the specific scriptures applied in this teaching. God's spirit certainly yoked us together in His will for His own and for the world He created. To think He has elected us to co-labor with Him is almost inconceivable, but for grace. My prayer for you is that He raises you up, exalts you, to sound the alarm among anemic churches that have been subtly injected with worldly venom. You are strong in the Lord, and in the power of His might you have done a great exploit.

“ Most Relevant Sermon for Our Nation Today ”
Wake up Christians...our God is a God of mercy, but let us not be imbalanced, for He is also a God of justice. He has provided prayers for us to pray as King David prayed beseeching the Lord to deal with the wicked in government who were destroying and polluting the land/culture with ungodly, grievous perversions in cities, states and country. If we are living righteously before the Lord we have a right to ask our Lord to execute justice on the wicked and to name them specifically. The Lord decides the type of judgment which will come to whomever we bring before him. Open your mouth and pray! Then go vote for righteous leaders who love what God loves and hate what God hates.

“ Important Sermon! ”
The message is another proof that something HUGE is wrong with the modern church. What is the cause? How has modern Christianity come to such a wrong conclusion, such bad theology that actually condemns the Justice of God? The answer can be found partially in what the church sings....instead of singing the holy inspired Psalms of God! Singing is to be with "psalms, hymns and songs--all spiritual (prophetic)", which are mean to "speak to one another with". 18th century hymns and latter all Omit Impreccatory singing for "sentimentalism" that has swept all into another gospel (Arminian), and another theology--one actually opposed to the Justice of God. Psalm-singing is necessary to bust the false church and revive the genuine.

“ An EXCELLENT Sermon! ”
In the wake of all the publicity concerning pastor Wiley Drake's praying that abortionist George Tiller's wife would become a widow, much debate has revolved around the issue of the role imprecatory prayer plays in the NT Church. This is an excellent, balanced sermon on the subject which should help the believer come to a clearer understanding. Thank you pastor LoSardo. May God continue to bless.

“ Outstanding! ”
Your sermon on imprecatory prayer was outstanding. I am now even more convinced how much the Lord has blessed you and is working through you. God Bless and thank you once again. I am still praying for you and your ministry.
