In his second letter to Timothy, Paul makes a bold statement, "But I am not ashamed, for I know whom I have believed, and I am convinced that He is able to grant until that day what has been entrusted to me." (2 Timothy 1:12) Here, Paul notes that he has given his soul to God, and he expresses high confidence that it will be guarded until the last day. How can we have such assurance for ourselves?
FOUR DIRECTIONS TO HAVING A BLESSED ASSURANCE
1. Be assured that you can have assurance. (1 John 5:10; 2 Corinthians 5:1; Romans 4:21) 2. Be aware of the reasons you may not have assurance. 3. Be faithful to obey all that God has commanded. (1 John 3:9; John 14:21) 4. Be persuaded of Christ's ability, willingness and faithfulness to guard you till that day. (2 Timothy 1:12; Luke 22:31-32)
