Transcript of the segment on interceding for the People of God:
She is doing … what? She is interceding for the people of God. You see what Esther does not say. But what we know, and Ahasuerus does not know is that these where not just any people. These were not just the same as all the other groups of people that had been overtaken by the Persian Empire. These were the people who were God’s own people. He loved these people. He had covenanted himself to these people. He had given promises to these people. He had given these people a way of access to him, information about himself. These people had the word of God. These were the people of God. She’s feeling this, because she knows this to be the case. She understands that these are God’s chosen, that they have his inheritance, that they are his inheritance. But she doesn’t say that to him. Why? Well, it would be lost on him, number one. Number two, she is modeling to us what Jesus says in the Sermon on the Mount, “Don’t cast your pearls,” that’s the things you wear around your neck, “Don’t cast your pearls before swine,” that’s pigs. In other words, if I put a string of pearls in front of one of my daughters, they would just take it. They know what to do with that. You throw them to pigs, I know what the pigs would do with them. And sometimes there are things you don’t say to the pigs; you don’t say to those who don’t understand the truth, because all you’re going to do is give them fodder for their revulsion to the things of God. There are times to be silent.
