The elderly Hebrews who had seen and experienced the glory of Solomon's temple were disappointed in the much lesser glory of the one being built after the Exile to Babylon. But the LORD through Haggai assured them that a greater temple glory was coming. This prophecy surely was fulfilled when the Messiah himself several times entered the temple at Jerusalem. Jesus also declared that his own body was the temple of God. Additionally, believers in Christ, as they are indwelled by the Spirit, are designated the present temple of Christ on earth. And finally, in the New Jerusalem that descends from heaven the only temple there will be God himself.
