The Herodians & Pharisees come to Jesus, asking Him the question as to whether or not the poll tax was to be paid to Caesar.
He responds by destroying their idolatrous love of self, and getting to the main issue of His ministry: repaying to God His due, namely giving Him supreme homage & adoration as King.
Of course, this is accomplished by believing the gospel of His Son, the central theme of Mark's gospel, as well as Jesus' ministry (1:14-15).
May the Spirit convict us to quit skirting the main issue of life - giving ourselves as a living sacrifice in light of God's immense mercies in Christ. May we quit playing games w/ the living Christ!
