Jonah 1:1-2 Bible Study_02 Jonah 1:1-2 The great book of Jonah opens with the prophet running away from both his home and his country. No doubt Jonah gave some thought to the consequences of his actions; even so, he made a terrible choice. Jonah is about to cause and endure indescribable suffering. In a scene of high drama and suspense, Jonah is seen fleeing as far away as he can, seeking to break all ties with his former life. He was seeking to flee the call of God upon his life. The LORD's commission to Jonah: a picture of the Great Commission given to believers vv. 1-2. It is not God's fault that sinners are lost and on their way to Hell. It is not God's fault that revival among God's people seems non-existent. God has called enough people to accomplish His work. The problem is not with the harvest, the problem is with the laborers! He has carefully crafted His message, and every word is essential! Make sure your spiritual battery is always charged. Be sure to stay "close" to God, that is, in "range", so that His call in your life is not "dropped." Christ can forgive any trespass,He can overlook none. Forgiveness is man's deepest need and highest achievement.God's message is often spoken through the tears of a broken heart. We must awaken to God's message of truth, and practice the truth.
