God's charge to Ezekiel is similar to our Lord Jesus' commission, with some important differences.
God embued Ezekiel with the Holy Ghost to enable him to stand on his feet and hear His commandment concerning his ministry.
The Father placed the Spirit upon Christ in His humanity, and He always acted by the power of the Holy Ghost.
God commanded Ezekiel to speak God's words to the people, whether they would hear or not.
The Lord Jesus, from of old, affirmed His faithfulness to proclaim God's righteousness and salvation to the congregation, and He completely fulfilled that mandate.
But God told Ezekiel that Israel would reject his message from the Lord, because Israel was a rebellious nation. Furthermore, God said the cause of this was that Israel would not hear God's word either.
Our Lord Jesus was likewise promised that Israel would not be gathered unto His rule, that it would rebel against Him.
But while Ezekiel had no promise of success in his ministry, the Savior was promised He would be most glorious unto His God, because He would be a light to the nations and salvation to all the world!
God warned Ezekiel not to rebel his commission just because Israel would not hear. How easy it is to give up obeying God when the wicked around will not listen.
But our Lord Jesus was never rebellious to God. His ear was open to God's commandment, and He delighted to do God's will, even though it meant vicious rejection and the cruel cross.
God told Ezekiel that He had made him hard headed against wicked Israel.
Our Lord Jesus was adamant against His implacable foes. He set His face like flint to go to Calvary, knowing He would save His people!
