"When the ruler of the feast had tasted the water that was made wine, and knew not whence it was: (but the servants which drew the water knew;) the governor of the feast called the bridegroom, And saith unto him, Every man at the beginning doth set forth good wine; and when men have well drunk, then that which is worse: but thou hast kept the good wine until now." John 2:9,10 (KJB)
On this episode of Rightly Dividing, we are waging into a biblical 'hot spot', one that is sure to aggravate just as many people as it will bless, to see if we can discern for ourselves if God not only approves of drinking alcoholic wine, but would He Himself create it for us to drink? Think long and hard before you answer that one, it's a loaded question to say the least. Please note that we will not be pushing the "party line" of any denomination, this study is not simply to recite Baptist man-made "standards", we wouldn't do that to you. This is a Bible study, comparing scripture with scripture, so you can see for yourself what the truth of the matter is. The Bible clearly has a lot to say about alcoholic wine, mentioned in dozens of passages, and has a lot to say about the unfermented 'new wine', which contains zero alcohol. In fact, from the Old Testament to the New, God shows us an excellent comparison of those two types of wine, and then tells us what we can expect after drinking either one of them. |
