God gives us reason to trust him. He doubled up his promise to Abraham with an oath so we would be sure he means to do what he says. And now, Jesus has taken our boat’s ‘anchor'—our need to have something reliable in this world—and not just thrown it overboard but taken it to where we can be secure. He's buried it firmly into God and the future he has for us. Not much chance of that shifting! It’s the same for Abraham and for us—God reaches out to give us reason to trust him.
