Sometimes following God doesn't make a lot of sense to us at the moment. God is the only wise decision there is. That's what this passage is about. Throughout this chapter, there are some odd facts that are seemingly just thrown in for no good reason. We know that isn't true. All scripture is God breathed and is useful to God's ends. "There shall be a distance between you and the ark, about 2,000 cubits in length. Why? It might be tempting to think the reason is God's holiness. The reason for the distance is so that everyone could see what God is doing. God is leading His people in a way they have never gone. If you can't see God at work, then at least consider perhaps it is your sin that is preventing you. When was the last time you stopped to consider what God is doing in your life? Are you following where He is leading? Three steps will enable you to observe and follow God: 1) You need to watch God's servants; 2) Watch God's power; and 3) if you want to watch God and follow where He leads, then you need to watch God's methods. God's methods will almost always take us down the road less travelled. Do not doubt that God can do the impossible. Do not doubt that God will carry out His perfect plan. For those of us with wayward loved ones, this truth must be our source of hope. God's method of often choosing the most difficult route ensures that only God gets the glory.
