From 1 Peter 1:1-12 we learn 3 things. 1. The Testing of Our Faith: Our faith is refined and strengthened through trials and suffering, similar to how gold is purified in fire. This testing is temporary but produces permanent results, leading to praise, glory, and honor at the revelation of Jesus Christ.
2. The Outcome of Our Faith: The end result of our faith is the salvation of our souls. This salvation is not just from sin but also from eternal judgment. It involves the redemption of our entire being, body and soul, and will be fully realized at the coming of Christ.
3. The Preaching of God's Salvation: Both the Old and New Testaments reveal Christ and His work. The prophets of the Old Testament searched and inquired about the Messiah, and their prophecies pointed to Jesus. Through the preaching of the gospel, we come to faith in Christ and receive the Holy Spirit, who refines our faith through trials.
