Back in Romans 8 we were reminded that God condemned sin in the flesh of his own Son in order that the righteous requirement of the law might be fulfilled in us. This week, in Romans 13:8-14, Paul exhorts us to love one another, for the one who loves another has fulfilled the law. Here is one of the chief goals, and gifts, of our salvation - that we love one another. This debt of love is all the more urgent as the great day of our salvation draws near. There is no time or place for sinful self-indulgence for those who are in Christ Jesus. Instead, by the mercies of God, we are to 'put on the Lord Jesus Christ and make no provision for the flesh' as we love one another. May we be awakened and alerted to the great need for love and for living in the light of our salvation in Christ.
