Great Lecture Reading! Yes, Whitefield was correct.....there are no apostles living today.
Only the early apostles had supernatural signs and wonders and could "cast lots" to be led by the Lord.
Wesley's superstition "casting lots" just reveals his errors in his Arminian doctrine...
(Now that we have the complete written Word of God, signs and wonders have ceased)...

Great Sermon! TMS
I haven't yet listened to this reading, so I may be off with this comment.
I don't think we can call Wesley superstitious because "he resorted to casting lots to determine the will of God." Isn't that pretty much what Acts 1:21-26 says in the selection of Matthias over Joseph?

Interesting Letter to Wesley I found this old tract at a Calvinistic Baptist church in Holland MI on the tract rack and I asked if I could narrate it for Sermon Audio. I found it interesting that Whitefield addresses Wesley's hints at Wesley's view of perfectionism, but even more interesting - the fact that Wesley resorted to casting lots to determine the will of God. For a man who is said to know numerous languages and be much used of God, he sure was superstitious.
