In this message the third commandment is applied to the issue of using euphemisms for God's name. Most of these bear similarities in sound or syllable structure to various names of God and can be spoken with the same vent of feeling. Many of these euphemisms are identified. Mental laziness and an impoverished vocabulary are often contributing causes to the use of these deformities of the divine name. Exerting the mental labor so as to develop vocabulary properly expressive of surprise, frustration and anger is a means of eliminating the careless, expletive use of the many terms which are derivatives of God's name.
