When Adam & Eve broke the covenant of works which the Lord had made with them the promised curses fell. In these verses we read of God dispensing curses in accordance with the genders of our first parents. But we also see hints of God's grace. Adam & Eve were indeed expelled from Paradise, but they did not leave it without hope that someday they would be permitted to re-enter. Indeed, the Paradise that awaits those of us who are in Christ far exceeds the Paradise from which we have been expelled. We have gained far more in Christ Jesus than we ever lost in Adam!
