We do not believe God has 'cast off' Israel. We do not believe God has made the promises to Israel null and void. Instead, we see those promises spiritually fulfilled in the church, made up of people of every tribe, tongue, kindred and nation.
Does this mean God has no plan at all for Israel? We do confess that God cast off working with the nation as a nation in 70 AD, however, He still works with Jews as He always has, through a faithful, believing remnant.
REMNANT is a key word in understand the OT, NT and Eschatology. God dealt through a remnant, there was a remnant at the time of Christ, and in the first generation of Christians (Paul is an example of this remnant) -- and there is STILL a faithful remnant of believing Jews who are trusting in Jesus Christ for salvation.
The remnant may be larger or smaller at any given time in history, but the promises of God are yea and amen to this faithful remnant who are now part of the greater 'people of God' -- the church.
Understanding "The Remnant Principle" is key to understanding chapters 9-11 of Romans.
