Demas professed to be a Christian and even served with the Apostle Paul as a missionary. But in the end, he deserted Paul and the church because he "loved this present world." Whatever it was that initially drew Demas to the church, it was NOT a Spirit-produced love for Christ. In the end, Demas looked at Paul in his Roman imprisonment and he looked at the sinful pleasure of the world and opted for a temporal kingdom that would not stand.
