Today I will begin a new sermon series, which will consist of an expository study through the book of Ecclesiastes. As you probably already know, Ecclesiastes falls in the category of wisdom literature in the Bible. Therefore, we will be occupying ourselves over the next few months with the theme of spiritual wisdom in its various practical aspects. Wisdom is much more important and deserves far more attention than we commonly give to it, especially in light of the fact that Christ has been made to us the wisdom of God (1 Cor. 1:30), and Christ crucified is a demonstration of both the power and the wisdom of God (1 Cor. 1:24). In this sermon I am going to introduce the new series by exploring the nature of spiritual wisdom according to King Solomon. I will open up the three points of the value of wisdom; the attainment of wisdom; and the key to wisdom, all from the words of Solomon found in the book of Proverbs. My prayer is that the Lord will be pleased to bless the preaching of His word as we commence this important study.
