As Abraham long before, Ruth went to the threshingfloor with the assurance that God had called her to go but without any certainty as to what the outcome would be. She cast herself entirely on the mercy of Boaz, and he displayed great mercy and promised that, if no other kinsman would undertake that responsibility, he would do it.
