Peter instructed the church to do the same in 2 Peter 1:5-8: And beside this, giving all diligence, add to your faith virtue; and to virtue knowledge; And to knowledge temperance; and to temperance patience; and to patience godliness; And to godliness brotherly kindness; and to brotherly kindness charity. For if these things be in you, and abound, they make you that ye shall neither be barren nor unfruitful in the knowledge of our Lord Jesus Christ. At every phase of the supernatural growth process, we see a principle being applied. If you give, you gain. The result follows the same principle found in Romans 12 and in Philippians 1:9-11. Both Peter and Paul make a great point that we should remember. Believers who continually give themselves to the Lord will always gain from the Lord's knowledge, wisdom, and understanding, and they will receive the discernment necessary to live a productive and eternally fruitful life. They both reveal that we who live this way will never personally be barren of the knowledge of the Lord Jesus Christ, and we'll always have wisdom to give away. The believers who live by these principles not only know Christ and His ways, but they also live to help others know Him and how He works.
