In John 7:1-9 the 'marketing gurus' are Jesus' brothers and they want to help Jesus to gain followers and glory by sending him to the urban center of Jerusalem to do signs and wonders where men could see them. But their reason for doing this, as John tells us, is that they did not believe Jesus was the Messiah, the Son of God and consequently as simply an earthly minister were looking for Him to gain as much attention and personal glory as possible.
But Jesus rejects their advice and affirms that both the time table and the methods that he is holding to were determined by the Father.
