Intro. — God’s second answer is recorded in vv. 2-20. In particular, vv. 2-5. Remember, God is going to answer Habakkuk’s concern about the violence and sin in Judah. His answer is to use the Chaldeans. This raises more questions — how can God use someone more wicked than the one being chastised? This is God’s answer to that question. The answer is not all that different from His first answer. God will still use the Babylonians. Only in this response, two important truths are revealed. One, how they are to respond - faith? Two, how God is going to deal with wicked Babylonians - judgment? Four General Applications
1. God is never wrong so let us humbly acknowledge His ways (vv. 2-3). 2. We either live by faith or by our own devices (vv. 4-5). 3. God’s judgment will always make things right at His appointed time (vv. 6-20). 4. In Christ, we have a greater reason to live by faith.
