Theme: While Jesus may have come in an unimpressive manner, believers have the assurance that He was humble for our sake, and we will be exalted with Him! In v. 1, we see the rejection of the Messiah. The truth of who Jesus was, fell on deaf ears. When people believe, it is a gift of God's grace. It is a beautiful thing for us to share the good news we have been given! In v. 2, Jesus was rejected because of His ordinary appearance; He had no form or majesty. They knew Him as the carpenter's son. In v. 3, we see that He was despised and rejected by men. Because He was human, he was subject to normal painful circumstances and then Jesus humbled Himself to the death of a cross for us. Now He is exalted forever, and we receive all blessings because of His sacrifice for us!
