Psalm 2 is the most quoted Psalm in the New Testament. It has relevance for all nations, all governments and all politicians. It speaks firstly of David as King of Israel, but ultimately it is about Christ the universal and eternal King. 1. Rebellious conspiracy. "The kings of the earth set themselves, and the rulers take counsel together, against the Lord, and against his anointed." 2. Divine installation. "Yet have I set my King upon my holy hill of Zion." 3. The Divine answer. "Thou art my Son; this day have I begotten thee. Ask of me, and I shall give thee the heathen for thine inheritance, and the uttermost parts of the earth for thine inheritance." 4. The Divine invitation. "Be wise, be instructed. Serve the Lord with fear. Kiss the Son."
