Living by Faith - Lesson 3 - Another Gospel - Galatians 1:6-8. The churches in Galatia that had been planted by Paul during his first missionary journey had shortly thereafter been infiltrated by "Christian-Jewish" missionaries who sought to convince the church that Paul's gospel of grace just wasn't enough. To be true followers of Christ, the churches needed to first submit to Jewish law beginning with circumcision. Paul is astonished by this abandonment of the true gospel for another gospel, which he says is no gospel at all. We are reminded that the gospel of grace is central to our Christian lives and must fight the tendency to allow other things to take its place in our thinking and our faith.
