The (1) parable found in these two chapters is a challenging one for sure... the (3) stories found in the parable start at the close of 24 and continues into chapter 25. And how I've come to understand the message is paying close attention to chapter 24. In Matthew 24:4, after they asked Jesus about the signs, is the beginning of the dialogue... and this is what He shares with them, "Take heed that no one deceived you..." From that point on Jesus explains to them how prevalent the deception will be during the last days. I encourage you to take a minute and circle or note how many references are made toward deception and decievers in chapter 24:4-44. Then notice the question He asked in 24:45... "Who then is a faithful and wise servant...?" Or in essence, "Who can you trust in a day of such a vast array of decoys and falsehood?"
Then, in the following (3) illustrations, He answers His own question with (1) parable. It's not three parables but one parable using three different illustrations to answer that one question in 24:45. And I personally believe and teach that He's explaining what a faithful and wise servant looks like, in order to give them the discernment they'll need.
(1) They are personally interested in the work and well-being of the Master's goods and servants.
(2) They are personally invested and will make the necessary means to be prepared and ready to celebrate the joys and love of the Lord.
(3) They are actively involved in the advancement of the King and kingdom and will use what He's given to them for His glory.
