1. THE TROUBLE WITH LOT (a) the warring kings - verses 1-12 set the scene for Abram’s action (b) Lot in Sodom - Lot is now settled in Sodom and is caught in its events!
2. ABRAM’S RESCUE MISSION (a) his right - Abram was moved by more than family ties in his action. God has given him this land and he exercises his rights as landowner!God’s covenant with him gives him the right to act to reclaim what is lost. (b) his might - his “army” of 318 is very small compared to his opponents! This is a frequent strand of teaching in the Bible.See v. 22 where Abram clearly reveals that his sufficiency is in God. Many in Sodom benefitted from Abram’s victory but perished later!
