Aim: To fight and win in the power of Christ—as His faith-filled church.
Doctrine: The church's victories in this world renders unlikely heroines, vanquished foes, and a glorified Savior. Spiritual warfare is always ultimately a fight to the death, where to the winners go all the spoils.
Exegesis: The parties engaged on the battlefield of kingdoms: normal people—who do valiant deeds as a result of their faith (vv. 24-27); defeated rebels—who get humbled before the Lord and His church (vv. 28-30); the sovereign God—who deserves all the praise (v. 31).
Further application: Why the church cannot ''take any prisoners'' in spiritual conflict: because way too much is at stake, most-notably and supremely, the honor of Christ.
Key verse: v. 31 '''Thus let all Your enemies perish, O LORD! But let those who love Him be like the sun when it comes out in full strength.' So the land had rest for forty years.''
