In the beginning, Eden was the place where heaven and earth converged. When Adam and Eve sinned, they were banished from Eden and the door to heaven was shut. Thankfully, God promised to redeem a people. In the Old Covenant, God came to His people. He dwelt among them in the Holy of Holies but they were not allowed access. When Christ died, the veil in the Temple was ripped in two. Christ opened the door to heaven for His people. When we assemble for worship, Christ calls us to, by the Spirit, "come up" through that open door into the heavenliness to gather before God's throne.
