Having told his disciples their righteousness needed to exceed that of the Scribes and the Pharisees, Jesus goes on to give six examples of what this righteousness looks like in practice- in normal everyday life. This week we look at the first two of these examples, concerning anger and lust. Jesus' teaching effectively charges us all with the sin of murder and adultery and it would easy to think there is no hope for any of us. Reminding ourselves of the Beatitudes at the beginning of the Sermon on the Mount however, should remove any sense of despair. Go back and read them again and see what you think.
