A Picture is Worth a Thousand Wrong Reactions: Personally, I thought the photo was foolish, but what I find even more ridiculous is the response.
Who exactly was offered by the picture? Gangsters? Thugs? Should we really be concerned about hurting their feelings? If other groups identify with the Gangster/Thug lifestyle (so much so that they are offended when it is mocked) isn’t that a much a bigger problem than the photo itself?
But all of that seems to be lost on the SBC Leadership…. the only proper response to them seems to be to beg forgiveness and seek mercy at the court of political correctness.
And, of course, confess that their conduct really reveals their deep-seated unresolved Anglo racism.
Now a search committee is underway to find just the right black spokesman to publicly chastise them.
And you can be certain there is going to be a conference. I’m sure the ERLC is already working on the schedule. Complete with a rap concert to demonstrate to the doubting masses just how accepting the SBC really is.
Brothers, don’t let the “thought police” dictate your response. Just tell it like it is. It was a joke. Probably not the best joke. But get over it and press on.
