In this message, Pastor John leads us on a journey through time to the message of God given through the prophet Amos. God had Amos warn the people of coming judgment and told them to seek Him. This is always our loving heavenly Father’s way: He offers His people a chance to turn to Him to avoid His punishment. He has always made a way. He loved the world so much that He sent His son to redeem us from sin and its consequences. Whoever will turn to Him will be saved. Amos admitted he was nobody. He didn’t have a fancy prophet education. He worked with animals and trees. So why did he decide to put his neck on the line to warn strangers? He said, “the LORD took me as I followed the flock, And the LORD said to me, 'Go, prophesy to My people Israel.'” (Amos 7:15) It was almighty God who took this simple man to use as His mouthpiece. He will choose whomever He wants to choose, regardless of education or status. Israel and Judah had reached a high point in wealth & prosperity at the time of this prophecy, sort of like America today. They had also reached a low point in their reverence for God and righteousness, sort of like this land. Their wealth & prosperity had produced its fruits of pride, luxury, selfishness, oppression of the poor & idolatry. Almighty God sent Amos to rebuke the iniquity of the people, and to announce His coming judgment. Even so, along with God’s warning, he delivered God’s remedy: seek the Lord & live. This is Almighty God’s message to whosoever will come. The warning is in itself good news: God uses it to straighten out those He loves. Join us as we hear God's method of true revival from His Word. Heed His Word and be revived!
