Theme: From all ordinary persons to the rulers of nations, everyone must understand the truth of who Jesus is and respond accordingly. In this passage we see that Herod was perplexed about who Jesus was. Although Herod had heard of Jesus and eventually had interactions with Christ, he never truly understood the truth of who Jesus is. Although Herod had political power, Jesus has total dominion and would fulfill the Father's plan. We should always be ready to share the truth of who Jesus is with others and also ourselves beware of only knowing Jesus superficially. We need to know who Jesus is, the Lord, and follow Him!
