To Recognize Who? To Receive What? To Release For? To Reinforce Who?
Last night we opened up Proverbs 1 and celebrated much of its goodness. So, come join us as we look into Proverbs 1 and James 3.
Proverbs — It's Usually Like This
Proverbs is filled with practical principles. They are to guide us — so we can see His "rule of thumb" on life, and recognize and understand the wise and their sayings. They can help us examine and govern our own steps so we can continually set ourselves up to appreciate and affirm God's wisdom.
The rule of thumb on a matter, helps us recognize and discern the rightness or wrongness of people, principles, practices, and patterns in life.
What God says about a thing is more important than the thing itself.
People are either: Right or Wrong
Let me explain:
Right: Meaning they are right with God, by God's grace, through faith in Jesus, and declared to be RIGHTEOUS and now, therefore, RIGHT with God by God. They may or may not be walking uprightly with Him — yet — they are still righteous because of His grace in Christ.
Or
Wrong: meaning they are NOT RIGHT with God and declared to be WICKED because they have not been made RIGHT with God through Jesus and nothing they do is RIGHT, therefore, it nor they can be RIGHTEOUS apart from the grace of the Lord Jesus. Any and all who are wrong, because they are not right, are by nature — wicked.
The WICKED/WRONG are described as sinners who are:
1. Simple men are in the dark and have no clue about heavenly things. They are simply ignorant or without knowledge. They have light on some things but the light they have is darkness.
