In the Mosaic Covenant God promised to bless His people Israel upon their obedience to His Holy Law, and to curse them upon their disobedience of it. Israel was not faithful to the Lord their God, but went after the Baals and the Ashteroths. God sent prophet after prophet to warn them to repent and to turn back to Him, but the people only hardened their necks and would not listen. Finally, the judgments came as Israel was carried into Assyria and Judah was carried to Babylon. But God had promised that if His people would cry out to Him from the land of their captivity, He would hear and restore them to their land. In this sermon we explore the sin of Israel, but more importantly we see God's answer to the sins of His chosen people: the Messiah, Jesus Christ, who would come to be cut off, but not for Himself....
