In 1988 a group of sovereign grace pastors were invited to preach at a ‚Äúsovereign grace‚ÄĚ church conference. The location and name of the church is not important. What is important is that most of the congregation, while desiring to have a ‚Äúsovereign grace‚ÄĚ conference, hated the doctrine of sovereign grace when spoken plainly and without smoothing dress. Late in the schedule of preaching, Pastor Tim James preached this message after hearing complaints from a group within the congregation of having ‚ÄúThese (dry eyed) Calvinists‚ÄĚ infiltrate and invade their ‚Äúsovereign grace‚ÄĚ conference.
