Tonight we investigate the spiritual discipline of abounding. Paul said he learned how to be abased and to abound. Learning to abound can be more difficult than being abased. The reason it is more difficult to abound is because when things are going well, we become comfortable. Then, we forget the discipline which was necessary to arrive at the place we are. It is easy not to splurge when you have no money. However, if you have a few dollars in your pocket, it is more difficult to say no. Paul said he had learned to be content, to be abased or abound. Learning to abound requires a different mindset. Also, we recognize we need to dedicate ourselves when we face difficulties. We will dedicate ourselves to whatever we think will be necessary for God to bless us. However, what do we do when the pressure is not on?
