In our day and age, many things become redefined as if we had the right to redefine them. I‚Äôm talking about things that are true-precepts and principles that God has established and, by the way, created them for our good. God has a design for our lives, and that design met when we walk with Him in His word. The Lord Jesus addresses the multitude again here in His Sermon on the Mount on another popularly redefined commandment. Once again the Lord is here to remind the people of what God said and not what people interpret Him as saying. He had just put murder and anger in perspective, and now He covers another controversial subject-adultery.
The scribes had limited adultery to a physical act; the Lord Jesus clarifies what adultery is. What we are talking about my friend is an affair of the heart. What steps do we need to take to avoid affairs of the heart?
