We considered the sobering passage in Jeremiah 8. The people had sinned so terribly against the Lord. He had given them so many warnings. He had spoken through his prophets about the certainty of judgment. Yet they had refused. They instead had listened to the false prophets that were going round with empty promises and erroneous "words of comfort". We need preaching today that declares the truth - judgement and mercy. A preacher which only speaks on one of those aspects is not declaring the whole counsel of God. Especially in this time of pandemic we need the truth of God - warnings and comfort. We saw that the people had spurned the opportunity to repent and the day of grace had expired. Seek ye the Lord while he may be found!
